CC-400 cw15 mt+

Source: This is an isolate derived by David Grant from a cw15 culture obtained from Steve Surzycki, while David was a student in Kwen-Sheng Chiang's laboratory. The original stock would not grow without acetate in liquid medium and was quite sensitive to pH and CO2 concentration. This isolate was selected for acetate independence and greater tolerance for pH and CO2 variation.

Comment: In contrast to CC-277, cells of this strain are usually flagellated and swim and mate normally. CC-400 is a good choice for a cell-wall deficient strain for most purposes.
