Source: Isolated by Karen VanWinkle-Swift in the Boynton-Gillham laboratory.

Comment: This is a good chloroplast marker for erythromycin resistance, and has been used in many crosses. It maps to the center of the 23S rRNA gene, proximal to the intron.
