Source: This is the original sr-u-2-60 mutant isolated by N.W. Gillham.

Comment: This is an excellent chloroplast mutant, easy to score, resistant to up to 500 micrograms/ml streptomycin on agar (50-100 micrograms is sufficient to kill wild-type cells). The mutation is an A>C change at nt 474 in the 16S rRNA.
